About
Edinburgh Food Festival returns in 2025 as the newly minted Edinburgh Folk & Food Festival. Join us from 18 – 27 July 2025 in our George Square Garden home.
A decade in the Scottish Sunshine
Since its launch in 2014, the Edinburgh Food Festival has gone from strength to strength, hosting top industry figures such as Carina Contini, Shirley Spear, Tom Lewis, Sarah Rankin, Guy Grieve and Neil Forbes.
The new Edinburgh Folk & Food Festival takes place just before the start of Assembly Festival's Fringe season, with some of Scotland's best food and drink vendors calling the Gardens home for the ten-day event, all to the sounds of the best folk music from Scotland and beyond.
In 2024, the festival welcomed new faces and returning favourites from Scotland's vibrant street food scene while hosting the Scottish leg of the British Street Food Awards, seeing local favourites Knights Kitchen and Planet G take the honours and go on to represent Scotland at the national event.
The Treehouse Kitchen played home to a wide range of programmed events, from family friendly interactive workshops led by Edinburgh Food Social, amazing butchery breakdown demonstrations by Butchery @ Bowhouse, as well as informative talks with incredible local artisan producers like Blackthorn Sea Salt.
And the park was filled with amazing fare for our Producers Market weekend, seeing the park flooded with marquees showcasing everything from Seabuckthorn Spritz to Herriot Hot Sauces.
What’s on for 2025?
Edinburgh Folk & Food Fest returns July 18th 2025 as Edinburgh’s only free-to-enter food festival now with the added flavour of a star-studded Folk music programme. With over 30 of Scotlands best street food vendors and numerous local and international drink offerings, there truly is something for everyone to enjoy in the Edinburgh sunshine this July.
The famous Palais du Variété Speigeltent will be filled with sound and heart, with our new Folk music line-up, whilst The Piccolo Kitchen will be home to a daily programme of events including workshops and masterclasses, producer-led tastings and pairings, and children’s activities, with the festival’s continued partnership with Edinburgh Food Social leading the way with family friendly interactive sessions.
